Sea of mist

The Clees stand tall, islands in a sea of mist; the sun yet to broach the horizon. The traveller dives into the misty ocean, plotting his course through the hedgerow reefs.

As he descends, the gloom thickens – his lights pick out ghostly shapes that scuttle and flee at his approach. Sparrows shoal and swirl like fish, darting from the hedges complete their mission and return.  Monolithic haystacks pass by, wrecks on a stubble seabed.

Ascending now, light and colour returns to the travellers world once more. Trees and hill tops float serenely by. On the horizon the sun lifts its face to the world. Warmth and golden light once again floods the shore….
